SSAA NATIONAL MUZZLELOADING CHAMPIONSHIPS
PERTH 2010

Out the back of Perth lies a shooting complex of excellence, Wanneroo Range. Representatives from Ravenshoe Sporting Shooters included Anne and father Ulrich Meerkotter, Jeff and Isabel De Lacey.
Wanneroo Range was hot and sandy with a stark blue sky. Vegetation harsh and prickly a true alien landscape to us North Tropical Queenslanders. As usual some shooters complained this time of the bright shattering sunlight but really all the better to see your target with! It could have been worse you could be in the cold, wet and dim conditions of Tropical North Qld, up to your armpits in leeches!
Dry desiccating conditions caused a little consternation amongst our shooters as they discovered that their gun stocks shriveled and bands became loose mid shoot. Now that really does separate the shooters from the boys.
Despite trying conditions Jeff De Lacey won Gold in the offhand flintlock rifle and Silver in military offhand and benchrest as well as the military aggregate. Anne Meerkotter won Bronze in the 50m open pistol.(with Isabels pistol). Ulrich and Isabel performed well.
We had a great time and were made very well welcome by the host Club.
Burns beach in WA was an excellent place to chill after a hot day of shooting. Pity Perth is so far away.
